At the entrance of the Museum, a passage from the Torah (Jeremiah 29:7)
"... seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away... and pray unto the Lord for
it."
This was originally the Zulfaris Synagogue dating back to the 17C. In the early 19C, the building had to be rebuilt on its original foundation. The last wedding took place here in 1983. It has been used as a museum since 2001.
Ceremonial artifacts reflecting the feelings of the Turkish Jews, Torah Scrolls from various regions in Turkey, an exhibition of photos from their social life and a section on ethnography with objects of birth, circumcision and wedding are all exhibited.
