Athens is, like every big city, full of shops and shopping areas. These are some of the most famous and important shopping places.
Plaka
Plaka is the most touristic shopping area, proposing dozens of souvenir shops and some good gold and silver jewelers. The prices there are quite reasonable and there is a quite important diversity.
Monastiraki and Pandrossou Street
Pandrossou Street is pedestrian and leads from the huge Metropolis Cathedral on the Plateia Metropoleos to Monastiraki district. This street concentrates a lot of touristy shops selling souvenirs like paintings or ancient statue's imitation, as well as some jewelers and many fur and carpets shops.
Monastiraki offers a wide range of chip shops selling all kind of stuffs such as label shoes, hand made leather shoes, clothes, leathers, furniture, jewellery, CDs, traditional instruments and more. Monastiraki is the place where the Sunday morning flea Market offers a huge quantity of diverse items.
Ermou
The most famous pedestrian street leading from
Syntagma square to Monastiraki. It is the biggest commercial street in Athens; therefore it attracts hundreds of clients every day.
It is unfortunately never quite, always overcrowded. On the top of the street, line up luxurious famous label shops, which are, of course, really expensive. From the half of the street to the end, the shops proposes more affordable labels like Zara, Morgan, Marks&Spencer, etc...
The whole street offers clothes, shoes and house furniture shops.
Athinas Street
This street leads from Omonia Square to Monastiraki. It is an area mostly for food shopping where stands the meat and fish Market, as well as the fruit and vegetables Market. All the products there are fresh and of very good quality. Little shops around the two Markets are selling excellent nuts, herbs, spices, olives, honey and coffee.
Kolonaki
The shops in this area are some of the most stylish and expensive shops in Athens. Buyers can find there clothes and shoes from famous international and Greek designers.
It is also an area full of art galleries, antique and furniture shops.
Patission Street
This huge and incredibly long street is boarding with clothes, shoes and accessories shops.
Kifissia
This Athenian's chic northern suburb is the place, with Kolonaki, mostly designated for wealthy buyers, offering clothes, shoes and accessories shops of luxury and famous designers' label.
Glyfada
Third classy and luxurious shopping area of Athens, Glyfada is in the south of Athens's center. It is a seaside neighborhood proposing a lot of luxurious and expensive shops of all kind.
Stadiou Street
This is the street, leading from Syntagma square to Omonia Square, boarded famous and luxurious gold
jewellery from Greek designers such as Ilias Lalaounis, Kessaris and Bvlgaris.
