Emirgan, which is one of the major districts hosting you on your journey towards the Black Sea trailing the Bosphorus, used to be called Feridun Bey Gardens, named after Nisanci Feridun Bey who wrote the masterpiece Munsa'at al-Salatin.
Emir Gun, who was the fortress commander during Conquest of Revan and who took refuge in the Sultan, was given the land which presently includes Emirgan.
Later, this castle which was given to Kara Mustafa Pasha was given to possession of various people after his execution. Mirgun became the name of the whole district, with a transformed pronunciation of Emir Gun.
